The State Police is assisting the Auburn Police Department with a shooting in Auburn

The Auburn Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred at approximately 210am this morning in the Delevan Street neighborhood located on the City of Auburn’s west side. A male victim was transported to Auburn Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In cooperation with members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, Auburn Police Department members are diligently working a very fluid and active investigation.
Though the suspect(s) are not currently in custody, the Auburn Police Department does not perceive any imminent threat to the nearby Genesee Elementary School. However, school district administration officials were notified early this morning of the incident as well as our School Resource supervisor who will coordinate additional school safety procedures they deem necessary.
At this time the Auburn Police Department will not be releasing any more information but will do so as the investigation matures and develops further.
