Erratic operator complaint results in felony drug arrest for Freedom woman

On November 16, 2019, SP Machias Troopers arrested Jennifer A. Schweickert, 33, of Freedom, NY for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree – Scales, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia – Packaging, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana 2nd Degree, and several traffic infractions.

Troopers responding to an erratic operator complaint located the vehicle on Maple Avenue in the town of Machias. During a subsequent traffic stop, Schweickert, the driver, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Schweickert was arrested and arraigned in Yorkshire Town Court, where she was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond. She is due to reappear in Yorkshire Town Court in December.
