State Police investigate a fatal crash in Hamptonburgh

State police responded to a single vehicle crash on November 16, 2019 at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Route 208 in the town of Hamptonburgh. Upon arrival troopers observed a 2005 Dodge Neon off the roadway and against a tree on the eastern shoulder. The operator of the vehicle, Holmes B. Shindon, age 21 of Montgomery, NY and his passenger Alexis Lewis, age 20 of Chester, NY, were both trapped inside the vehicle. Blooming Grove EMS and Hamptonburgh Fire Department assisted at the scene. Both occupants were declared deceased at the scene.
Investigation revealed that the operator was not wearing a seatbelt and the passenger was wearing a seatbelt. Speed was a contributing factor to the crash. This is an ongoing investigation.
