  NEW YORK STATE POLICE
  Major Philip T. Rougeux
  Troop D Commander

PRESS RELEASE

On November 18, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., State Police in Watertown stopped a Ford Crown Victoria vehicle on State Route 37 in the town of Pamelia for no rear license plate.  Just prior to the vehicle stop, a male subject jumped from the rear passenger's seat of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area west of State Route 37.  A State Police K9 responded to the scene and tracked the subject into a swamp area just west of Route 37.  During the search, a North Carolina ID was located, and a check of the information revealed the subject was wanted in North Carolina for Robbery.  A perimeter was established around the area, and with the assistance of State Police Aviation and a State Police Drone, Sherwin L. Tann Jr., age 23 from Murfreesboro, North Carolina, was located hiding under a pine tree by a State Police K9 and taken into custody without incident.

Tann was charged as a Fugitive from Justice from North Carolina, arraigned in the town of Pamelia Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail without bail.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and members from the NYS Forest Rangers.
