Grafton man charged with DWI, three times the legal limit

On December 4, 2019, State Police in Sand Lake arrested 35-year-old Craig L. Nichols of Grafton, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated- Previous Conviction (E felony), and Use of a Vehicle Without Interlock Device (A misdemeanor).
At approximately 8:31 p.m. Wednesday night, State Police responded to a one car property damage accident at the intersection of Alps Mountain Rd. and Hoffman Rd. in the Town of Sand Lake. When the Trooper arrived, he found that the vehicle had slid through the intersection and struck a snowbank on the other side.
Upon speaking with the driver, Craig Nichols, the Trooper observed signs of intoxication. Nichols was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody.
Nichols was transported back to SP Sand Lake where he provided a breath sample of .24% B.A.C. He was arraigned in North Greenbush Town Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail on $2,00 cash or bond. He is due back in court on at later date.
