Schenectady man charged with assault after fighting with Trooper

On December 8, 2019, State Police in Princetown arrested 35-year-old David L. Tate of Schenectady, for Assault 2nd degree (D felony), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (A misdemeanor), and Bail Jumping (A misdemeanor).
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, State Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Highbridge Road in the Town of Rotterdam. The driver of the vehicle, David Tate, was unable to provide any form of identification. When the Trooper asked Tate from the vehicle, he immediately fled on foot, and the Trooper gave chase.
Upon catching up with Tate, the Trooper attempted to take him into custody. Tate violently resisted and a struggle ensued during which Tate attempted to punch the Trooper in the face. Tate was successfully secured, and the Trooper sustained superficial injuries during the encounter.
Tate was transported to SP Princetown for processing and arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court, he is due back at a later date.
