Felony DWI arrest in Plattsburgh

On December 12, 2019, at approximately 10:19 p.m., State Police conducted a traffic stop on State Route 3 in the town of Plattsburgh on a 2005 Dodge Durango for having inadequate license plate lamps. The driver, identified as William J. Covey, 34, of Romulus, NY, was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI. His blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.23%. He was also found to have been convicted of DWI in the preceding ten years. Covey was charged with Felony DWI, and Felony Aggravated DWI. Covey was released with tickets to appear in the Plattsburgh Town Court.
