Utica Man arrested on Robbery charges

   NEW YORK STATE POLICE
    Major Philip T. Rougeux
     Troop D Commander

PRESS RELEASE

State Police arrested Omarie J. Trim, age 22 from 512 Herkimer Road Utica, NY for Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony.

On January 11th, at 7:40 p.m., State Police responded to a reported stolen vehicle complaint on Newport Road in the town of Schuyler.  While responding, the trooper observed the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull the car over.  The driver refused to comply.  He then stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Multiple patrol and K-9 units responded to the area and a search was initiated. The search and subsequent investigation led Troopers to a residence on Herkimer Road in the city of Utica. As officers were forming a perimeter around the residence, the suspect attempted to flee from an upstairs window. However, once he was confronted by the K-9 units and patrols,  he retreated back into the residence and subsequently surrendered to Troopers.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Trim agreed to meet the victim, who was selling the car on Facebook Marketplace. When the victim met with Trim,  He pointed a handgun at the victim, demanded the keys, title and fled the area.  Investigators located a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver at the scene.

Trim was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
