Shooting Incident Arrest

On November 4, 2017, at approximately 9:15 p.m., State Police Riverside patrols received a call of shots fired on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation, Southampton, NY. Upon arrival, State Police patrols, assisted by the Southampton Town and Village police departments, located a 2010 Nissan Altima, that had been shot several times while it was occupied by the driver.  The driver did not sustain any injuries resulting from this incident. The suspect was identified as Tyler Bess, age 21, of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation, Southampton, NY.  Mr. Bess surrendered to State Police and was charged with Criminal Use of a Firearm Second Degree (C-Felony), Attempted Assault First Degree (C-Felony), Reckless Endangerment First Degree (D-Felony), Criminal Mischief Second Degree (D-Felony).  Mr. Bess was arraigned at Southampton Town Court and was released on $5,000.00 cash bail.
