Pair arrested for possession of 13 forged personal checks and 2 stolen credit cards after police pursuit.

Ramapo, NY – On February 10, 2018, at approximately 12:11 a.m., State Police were dispatch to assist a local police department with a vehicle pursuit on I-87, in the town of Ramapo. While in-route to the area State Police were advised that the pursuit was terminated and the suspect vehicle had crashed into a tree on North Airmont Road, in the town of Ramapo and all suspects were in custody. State police investigation at the scene revealed that the vehicle operator Ashley M. Peralta, age 19, of Elizabeth, NJ and the passenger Aaron L. Jackson, age 30, of Staten Island, NY were in possession of approximately 5.18 grams of marihuana and (13) forged personal checks. Additionally, the passenger was also in possession of (2) stolen credit cards. Both Jackson and Peralta were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Tarrytown.  Where they were subsequently charged with:

  • Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree; a Class C Felony (13counts, Jackson and Peralta)
  • Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd; a Class A Misdemeanor (Peralta)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation (Jackson and Peralta)
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree; a Class E Felony (2 counts, Jackson only)
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations (Peralta only)

Both Jackson and Peralta were arraigned in the Village of Suffern Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail. Jackson was remanded with no bail and Peralta in lieu of $25,000. Cash or Bond. Return court date of February 20, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. in the Village of Suffern Court.  No injuries reported.
