State respond to reported School Threat

   On 02/27/18, State Police and The Town of Durham Police Department responded to a reported threat of school violence at The Cairo-Durham High School. It was reported that a 9th grade student had indicated that some other students may be in danger and that the student was in possession of a bullet. The school was placed in lockdown and the student was taken into custody outside of the building by police. An investigation into the events resulted in the 15 year old student being charged as a juvenile delinquent. Had he been an adult, the charge would have been Making a Terroristic Threat(a Class D felony). The student was issued a Family Court Appearance ticket and released to his parents. State Police, with the assistance of The Cairo-Durham School District Administration, are continuing the investigation into this matter.
