Wappinger, New York - On February 27, 2018, the New York State Police responded to a 911 call for a body found in a tributary to the Wappinger Creek, accessible from Maloney Road in the Town of Wappinger.
The deceased has been identified as Ashanti Moore, age 36, of Brooklyn, NY. An investigation has revealed that Moore had traveled through or stayed in the areas of; the Hudson Valley, Binghamton, Buffalo, and Pennsylvania from August to September 2017, prior to her death. Moore also could have spent time in the Chattanooga, Signal Mountain and Red Bank areas of Tennessee as well as Rossville, Georgia.
State Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have come in contact with Moore during her travels, or has information regarding the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police Troop K Headquarters at (845) 677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.
Wappinger, New York – On February 27, 2018, the New York State Police responded to a 911 call for a body found in a Wappinger Creek tributary stream accessible from Maloney Road in the town of Wappinger near the Lagrange town line.
The body of a deceased female, believed to be approximately 5’ 3” tall and between the ages of 16 and 25 years old, was found partially submerged. Her weight prior to her death was believed to be approximately 89 pounds. She was found wearing white jeans, a pink t-shirt, a black button-up sweater, and black and purple Merrell sneakers.
The forensic examination and autopsy are still ongoing. Additional information will be disseminated as soon as it is available.
