Driver charged with Felony DWI after being found passed out in vehicle

On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, State Police responded to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway on State Route 12 in the town of Pamelia, Jefferson County.
When Troopers arrived, they located a vehicle in the east bound driving lane facing west bound and a male, later identified as Christopher Walts was unconscious in the driver’s seat. Gilfoyle ambulance arrived on scene moments later and were able to revive Walts after giving a dose of Narcan. He was transported to SMC by ambulance where he was treated and released.
During the investigation, it was determined Walts was under the influence of Alcohol and Heroin.
Christopher G. Walts, age 27, from Evans Mills, NY was charged with the following:
- Felony DWI (2 previous convictions within 10 years)
- Use of motor vehicle without an Interlock System, class “A” misdemeanor
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, class “E” felony
- DWAI Drugs
- Several Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Walts was arraigned in the town of Hounsfield Court and is scheduled to appear in Pamelia Town Court on October 25, 2018 at 7p.m.
