Lansing man charged with felony level animal cruelty

(Lansing, NY - October 26, 2018) – A 24-year-old Lansing man is facing cruelty charges after he’s accused of killing a pet rabbit. 
Seth C. Decker, age 24 of Lansing, NY was arrested on the Agriculture and Markets felony of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.  He was arrested on October 25, 2018.
Troopers were dispatched to a gas station in Lansing on October 24 at approximately 7:44 p.m., to speak with a victim who alleged Decker threatened to harm her pet rabbit and another person. 

The victim told troopers that Decker was angry after an argument and allegedly told the victim he would put her pet rabbit inside the microwave at a residence on Lockerby Hill Road.  Another person who was in the residence observed Decker place the rabbit in the microwave and turn it on, then he threatened that other person.  Decker then left the area. When troopers arrived on scene, they located the rabbit deceased inside the microwave. 

Troopers in Auburn located Decker on October 25 in Locke.  Decker was arrested then subsequently arraigned in the town of Lansing Court.  He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 property bond.  His next court date is October 31, 2018.
