DWI Checkpoint in Tompkins County nets several arrests and tickets

PRESS RELEASE

(January 2, 2019) - New York State Police at Ithaca held a DWI Checkpoint in Tompkins County on Friday, December 28, 2018.  The checkpoint was held on State Route 366 in the town of Ithaca.  Approximately 863 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 62 of those vehicles were detained for further investigation.  The results are as follows:

One person was arrested for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. 
He is identified as Ronald G. Place, age 61 of Ithaca, NY with a reportable B.A.C of .11%.  Suspected cocaine was also located in Place’s possession and he was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. He was later released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Ithaca Court on January 16, 2019.

Two people were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. 
Jeffrey W. McDonald, age 22 of Chittenango, NY was in possession of suspected concentrated Cannabis, he was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

One person was arrested for Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the fourth degree.
Yenuel R. Amelly-Egipciaco, age 34 of Ithaca, NY was arrested after he was found to be in possession of approximately 66 grams of suspected marihuana.  He was later released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Ithaca on January 16, 2019.

One person was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree.
Kemar A. Rowser, age 22 of Ithaca, NY was found to be in possession of metal knuckles.  He additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He was later released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Ithaca Court on January 9, 2019.

Four people were released on appearance tickets for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.
 
Two people were issued tickets for not wearing a seatbelt
 
Twenty-two people were issued tickets for other vehicle and traffic violations.
