On May 4, 2019 at approximately 2:32 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Franklin H. Farrell, age 71 of Bainbridge, NY for the felony of Assault in the second degree and Assault in the third degree.

Troopers were dispatched to a physical dispute at a residence on County Route 39 in the town of Bainbridge. Their investigation determined that after an argument, Farrell grabbed on victim by the arm causing lacerations.  When a second victim came to intervene, Farrell allegedly brandished a knife attempting to stab the second victim.  The second victim was able to back out of the way and sustained a cut to the stomach.  Farrell is accused of then slashing at the second victim who sustained defensive wounds to the arms and fended off Farrell with a running board from a vehicle which was laying nearby.  Farrell was transported to Tri-County Hospital for his injuries and was arrested after he was released.  Farrell was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail without bail.  An order of protection was issued to both victims.  He’s scheduled to return to court on May 9, 2019.
