New Jersey man arrested on drug charges

On June 10, 2019 State Police arrested 40-year-old Amit J. Shah of Somerset NJ, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree- Stimulant, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree- Hallucinogen, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree.
 
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction as it traveled on State Route 43 in Stephentown. As police interviewed the occupants of the vehicle, several factors of suspicious narcotics activity were observed and Troopers obtained consent to search Shah. He was found to be in possession of a black duffle bag containing approximately 55 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and approximately 10.2 grams of a powdery substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. Shah was taken into custody and transported to SP Sand Lake for processing.
 
Amit Shah was arraigned in Stephentown Town Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or bond. He is due back in court on June 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.
