Albany man arrested for Felony DWI on the Thruway following a traffic stop.

Guilderland, NY – On August 5, 2019, at approximately 10:38 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of Guilderland for a vehicle and traffic violation.  After interviewing the driver, Demone R. Shepard, 40, of Albany, NY, he was found to be intoxicated and had a revoked license for refusing to submit to a chemical test.  Shepard was arrested and transported to SP Albany where he refused to submit to a breath test to determine the alcohol content in his system. 
 
Additionally, Shepard has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years as well as a pending DWI refusal, and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device.  As a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated; a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree; a Class E Felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle with no Ignition Interlock Device; a Class A Misdemeanor, and Vehicle and Traffic Violations.
 
Shepard posted $750 cash bail and was turned over to a sober third party.  He was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Guilderland Court on August 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
