Putnam County, New York - On Friday, September 13, 2019, the State Police conducted plain-clothes checks of fourteen retail locations in Putnam County that sell alcohol to ensure their compliance with New York State's Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Law. The enforcement initiative resulted in the arrest of two individuals for violations of the ABC Law.
Guillermo Vanegas, age 59, of Brewster, NY, an employee of Route 6 Petroleum, 250 U.S. Route 6, Mahopac, was arrested for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, a class A misdemeanor. Vanegas was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Carmel Court on September 17, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
Disimone, age 51, of Peekskill, NY, an employee of 76 Mart, 494 North Main Street, Brewster, NY, was arrested for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, a class A misdemeanor. Disimone was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the village of Brewster Court.
According to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth, including accidental deaths (e.g., car crashes), homicides, and suicides. The State Police will continue to conduct underage drinking enforcement details statewide in order to protect the citizens of NYS and its youth.
Twelve additional retail establishments were checked, and found to be in compliance.
