Lake Placid man arrested following domestic disputes

On November 2, 2019, State Police arrested Matthew A. Sears, 29, of Lake Placid following an investigation of two separate domestic disputes which occurred at a residence on Cottonwood Way in the town of North Elba.
 
On October 15, 2019, Sears damaged several items inside the residence. He fled and was unable to be located. Then, on October 30, Sears showed up to the residence, broke several interior doors, and then threw one of the doors at a 3-year-old child and the adult female victim. Neither of them were injured.
 
An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Sears by the North Elba Town Court.  Sears subsequently turned himself in at the State Police barracks in Ray Brook. He was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A misdemeanor), two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th degree (A misdemeanor), and Aggravated Family Offense (E felony).
 
Sears was arraigned at the Town of North Elba Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail without bail. Sears was also found to be in violation of his parole and the terms of his probation.
