NYSDOT & STATE POLICE KICK OFF

“OPERATION HARD HAT”

WHEN:           Thursday, November 7 at 11 a.m.

WHERE:        Exit 13S off ramp from eastbound Southern State Parkway

                        GPS – Central Avenue & Stuart Avenue, North Valley Stream, NY

                        (on street parking available on Stuart Avenue)

WHO:             Captain William Houlse, New York State Police Troop L

                        Joseph Brown, NYS Department of Transportation Long Island Regional Director

WHAT:           State Police and DOT are teaming up for “Operation Hard Hat,” a targeted enforcement of New York’s “Move Over” Law which requires drivers to slow down and change lanes when approaching emergency and highway maintenance vehicles with flashing lights.

                        Troopers embedded with DOT maintenance workers will radio to waiting Troopers and pull over any violators on the Southern State Parkway. This will be an ongoing effort on state roads throughout Nassau & Suffolk Counties.
