Two men arrested after a seven-year-long investigation in Clinton County

On July 26, 2012 a 35-foot Keystone Outback camper trailer was reported missing from a residence on Harkness Road in Peru. The camper was recently just recovered on August 20, 2019, when it was found abandoned on Devil's Den Road in the town of Altona.  After an extensive investigation and assistance from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, State Police arrested two men as a result:
 
Michael H. Smith Jr., 46, of Peru was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D felony). He was arraigned in the Town of Beekmantown Court and released on his own recognizance, to reappear in the Town of Altona Court.
 
David J. Doner Jr., 58, of Peru was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court and also released on his own recognizance, to reappear in the Town of Altona Court.
