Whitehall man charged with robbery

On November 26, 2019, State Police in Granville arrested 31-year-old Travis M. Carosella of Whitehall, for Robbery 1st degree (B felony), Criminal Mischief 3rd degree (E felony), Menacing 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), and Assault 3rd degree (A misdemeanor).
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 20, 2019, State Police responded to the parking lot of the Budget Inn in Whitehall for a report of an assault. Investigation at the scene revealed that Carosella had attacked the victim as they were exiting their vehicle, punching them multiple times, and then brandished a utility knife.
Carosella approached the victim’s passenger and forcibly removed the backpack they were wearing. He then used the handle of the utility knife to shatter a window on the victim’s vehicle, and fled the scene. All parties involved in the incident were known to one another.
Carosella was taken into custody a short time later in the Town of Fairhaven Vermont, with the assistance of the Vermont State Police. Carosella remained in custody in the State of Vermont on multiple arrest warrants.
On November 26, 2019, Carosella was extradited back to New York and arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment Part. He was remanded to Washington County Jail on $20,000 cash or bond. He is due back in court at a later date.
