PRESS RELEASE
 
On July 4, 2021, at approximately 2:18 a.m., State Police responded to a residence on Green Street in the town of Jay for a report of a burglary. 36-year-old Mark A. Roark of AuSable Forks unlawfully entered into the home and stole property. Roark then fled the area in a vehicle. He was located by troopers driving on State Route 9 in Keeseville, and taken into custody. Roark was also determined to be driving while intoxicated and in possession of hydrocodone and Concerta pills. He was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh when it was discovered he may have ingested drugs prior to the traffic stop. Following his discharge from the hospital, Roark was charged with DWI, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Burglary 2nd degree. He was given appearance tickets returnable in the Ausable Town Court for the first two charges. Roark was then arraigned for the burglary charge at the Wilmington Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
