Austerlitz, New York – On March 11, 2020, the New York State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center, arrested Brendan J. Ryder, age 25, of Austerlitz, for two counts of Rape in the 1st degree, two counts of Criminal Sex Act in the 1st degree, all class B felonies, two counts of Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, and four counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the 3rd degree, all class D felonies.

In February of 2020 a victim of sexual assault reported an incident that occurred in June of 2019.  Investigation determined Ryder raped and sexually abused the victim on June 12, 2019, in the town of Austerlitz.  Brendan Ryder and the victim were familiar with one another.

Ryder was arraigned before the Columbia County Court, and remanded by the Honorable Judge Nichols to the Columbia County Jail.  Ryder is next scheduled to appear before the Court on March 26, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.
