Belmont man arrested for aggravated DWI following Scio pursuit

On February 27, 2020, SP Amity Troopers arrested Brete A. Eck II, 39, of Belmont, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated – BAC Over 0.18% and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree.

After fleeing from an attempted traffic stop on State Route 19 in the town of Scio, Troopers were able to apprehend Eck, the driver of the vehicle. Eck was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Eck was then arrested and transported to SP Amity, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.19% BAC.

Eck was released with appearance tickets for Scio Town Court, where he is due to appear later this month.
