PRESS RELEASE
 
On February 14, 2021 New York State Police at Owego arrested Steaven M. Wormuth, age 28 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanors of Unlawful Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. 
 
A trooper monitoring traffic on State Route 17 in the town of Owego attempted to initiate a traffic stop after observing the vehicle speeding.  The operator of the vehicle failed to comply and accelerated into the town of Vestal.  He continued to make vehicle and traffic violations until he entered Ash Road, which is a dead end and stopped.  He was taken into custody.  A sergeant and an officer from the Vestal Police Department and a trooper from SP Endwell assisted. 
 
Wormuth was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and heroin.  The trooper also learned that Wormuth is on parole.   He was processed at SP Owego and released on appearance tickets to the town of Vestal court on March 22, 2021.
