New Paltz, NY – On May 8, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., State Police responded to a one car motor vehicle accident on I-87 in the town of New Paltz.  The investigation revealed a 2015 Toyota Rav4 drove approximately 20 feet off the roadway, into a wooded area.  The uninjured driver, Tsering Wangyal, 43, of Brooklyn, NY was found to be intoxicated.  

Wangyal was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Newburgh, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.26%.  He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.

Wangyal was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of New Paltz on June 29, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
