PRESS RELEASE
 

On December 28, 2020 at approximately 3:21 p.m., the New York State Police was dispatched by Broome County 911 to assist at a fire at 305 Pease Hill Road in the town of Barker.  When troopers arrived, the residence was fully engulfed. 

After an investigation at the scene, Robert M. Trella, age 54 of that residence was arrested.  He was charged with the felony of Arson in the third degree.  Trella who was the only person at the residence and was not injured.  Two dogs in the home were not injured and were taken to be cared for by the Broome County Humane Society. 

Trella was transported to SP Binghamton where he was arraigned virtually and released on his own recognizance.  He’s scheduled to appear in the town of Barker court on March 2, 2021. 

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Binghamton and the Broome County Bureau of Fire Investigation were on scene.  The fire agencies that responded included: Whitney Point, Lisle, Killawog, Chenango, Glen Aubrey, Chenango Bridge, Maine, Chenango Forks, Triangle, Endicott and Marathon.  Broome Ambulance responded for stand-by.
