On May 1, 2020, State Police in Brunswick arrested 32-year-old Hector M. Zayas of Brunswick, for two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th degree (A misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (A misdemeanor), and Harassment 2nd degree (violation).

State Police responded to a home in Brunswick for a domestic dispute shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Friday night. When Troopers arrived, they found Zayas and the victim in an argument outside of the residence. They attempted to place Zayas in custody but he refused to follow commands and pulled away from them, trying to flee back into the residence. He was ultimately secured by patrols.

Zayas is accused of striking the victim multiple times. He is also accused of taking the victim’s cell phone to keep them from contacting police, and damaging property inside of the home.

Zayas was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on June 24,2020 at 5:00 p.m.
