Major Scott D. Field
Troop T Commander

Grand Island, NY – On July 27, 2022, at approximately 6:30 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian walking on the shoulder of I-190 in the town of Grand Island.  Troopers observed a male matching the description given, walking along the roadway.  State Police advised the pedestrian, later identified as Meko A. Jackson, 23, of Buffalo, NY, that he could not walk on the Interstate and attempted to provide him with a ride.  Jackson refused the ride and continued to walk along the shoulder.

When Troopers confronted Jackson again, a physical struggle ensued.  Jackson was advised he was then under arrest, but he continued to be combative and attempted to flee on foot.  The Erie County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene and assisted State Police with taking Jackson into custody.  Jackson was transported to SP Buffalo where he was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Trespass 3rd degree; all Misdemeanors.

Jackson was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court on August 10, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.
