Evans, NY – On February 24, 2020, at approximately 4:20 p.m., State Police received a report of an erratic vehicle on I-90 in the town of Evans.  Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the Angola Service Area.  The driver of the vehicle, Kiran Thapa, 37, of Buffalo, NY, was found to be intoxicated and had a suspended license.  He was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Buffalo, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be a .32%. 

 

Additionally, Thapa has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device.  He was subsequently charged with the following Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree; a Class E Felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Ignition Interlock Device; a Class A Misdemeanor.

 

Thapa was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Evans Court on March 9, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.
