PRESS RELEASE
 
On August 4th, 2022, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Mary Butler, 64, of Gerry, for Assault 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree and four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
The Troopers responded to a residence in Gerry for a report of a subject that had been struck by a vehicle. Investigation revealed that while driving with four minors on County Route 380 in Jamestown, Butler swerved at and struck a female subject that was on the side of the roadway. Butler then exited the vehicle and struck the victim several times with the flat side of a machete. Butler fled the scene and the victim was treated at UPMC Chautauqua for non life threatening injuries. Butler was later located at her residence, placed under arrest and transported to SP Jamestown. Butler was then processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
