Clarksville man arrested for DWI after Friendship pursuit

On May 17, 2020, SP Amity Troopers arrested Russell S. Brant, 43, of Clarksville, NY for Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Intoxicated.

After observing a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed on Interstate 86 in the town of Friendship, Troopers attempted a traffic stop, at which time the vehicle fled from the Troopers. Brant was located a short time later at his residence in the town of Clarksville as he was exiting his vehicle and was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Brant was then arrested and transported to SP Amity, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Brant was released with appearance tickets for Friendship Town Court, where he is due to appear in June.
