Troopers in Cobleskill arrested Emily Bennett, 25 of the Town of Wright for the Misdemeanors of Assault 3rd and Endangering the Welfare of a Child after receiving a referral from the New York State Child Abuse Hotline of a one year old child with unexplained bruising on their body.

Troopers and Schoharie County Child Protection Service (CPS) conducted a joint investigation and Bennett was found to have caused substantial bruising to the buttocks region of the child.  The child’s primary caregivers cooperated fully in the investigation.  The child received the appropriate medical treatment and Schoharie County CPS will continue to monitor the situation.  State Police urge anyone who suspects any child is being neglected to call the New York State Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-342-3720 to make a report.
