On January 8, 2020, State Police in Guilderland arrested 28-year-old Thomas J. Sheffel of Albany, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree (D felony) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).
At approximately 1:08 a.m. on Wednesday, State Police stopped Sheffel for speeding as he travelled down Western Avenue in the City of Albany. When a Trooper approached the vehicle to speak with Sheffel, they could smell the odor of marihuana coming from inside the car, and observed paraphernalia consistence with the use of concentrated cannabis.
A subsequent search of Sheffel and the vehicle revealed that he was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and concentrated cannabis. Troopers also found two small baggies of cocaine secreted in a fanny pack around Sheffel’s waist.
Sheffel was taken into custody and transported to SP Guilderland for processing. He was issued an appearance ticket for Albany City Court answerable on January 29, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
