Cohoes woman facing charges after cashing fake payroll check

On February 18, 2021, State Police in Clifton Park arrested 28-year-old Amanda Garay of Cohoes, for Possession of a Forged Instrument 1^st degree, a class C felony, and Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Garay is accused of cashing a fake payroll check at the Price Chopper in Clifton Park on January 1^st of this year. The check was in the amount of $457.11 and was discovered to be fictitious after it was rejected by the bank it was drawn on. Further investigation revealed the Garay was never employed by the company listed on the payroll check.

Garay is due in Clifton Park Town Court on March 4, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
