Cold Case Tuesday:  The New York State Police continue to search for a 36-year-old wanted fugitive.

On January 13, 1982, Edward E. Nye was arrested in Canaan, NY, by the State Police for 30 counts of Sodomy 1st degree (now Criminal Sex Act 1st degree).  Nye plead guilty in Columbia County Court to multiple sex offenses, and was ordered to the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany, NY, pending sentencing.

On February 21, 1983, Nye escaped custody from the psychiatric center, and has not been seen since his escape.  A Columbia County Grand Jury indicted Nye for Bail Jumping 1st degree and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Nye has family ties throughout upstate New York, and it is believed that he may have fled to Canada.  Nye has previously worked as a youth counselor and used this position to access to child victims.
