Cold Case Tuesday: State Police continue to investigate a 28-year-old homicide in Nassau County

On March 1, 1992, at approximately 11:33 p.m., the body of a Hispanic male was found on the right shoulder of the Northern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead.

The remains were located on the right shoulder of the Northern State Parkway, eastbound, approximately 25 feet from the roadway about 1/10 of a mile west of New Hyde Park Road. The body was reported by a passerby, after observing a pair of pants on the right shoulder of the parkway. An investigation determined the man was the victim of a homicide and had been shot multiple times. 

The victim was identified as Edgar Humberto Quiroz, 28, of Queens, New York.  An investigation determined the man was the victim of a homicide and had been shot multiple times. Quiroz was approximately 5’8”, 150 pounds, a medium build, with black collar length hair, brown eyes and a thin mustache.  The victim was found wearing a black jacket, light blue pants and sneakers.
