Elmsford, New York – On January 21, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m. the New York State Police investigated a serious motor vehicle crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the village on Elmsford.
Northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway a four-car motor vehicle crash occurred near the westbound Interstate 287 entrance ramp closing both the center and right lanes. Shortly after the initial four-car collision, a 2009 Ford Econoline “mini bus,” belonging to All County Bus LLC, and operated by Crissfanny Y. Acosta Hernandez, age 31, of Yonkers, NY, traveling north on the Sprain Brook Parkway, struck two vehicles, and a pedestrian involved in the initial incident.
Initial investigation shows Acosta Hernandez passed a 2020 BMW X5 on the right, which was blocking part of the center and right lanes after the initial collision. Acosta Hernandez struck the BMW X5 and the jersey barrier before striking the BMW operator, Richard A. Snisky, age 85, of Thornwood, NY, who was standing in the roadway between the BMW and jersey barrier. Acosta Hernandez then struck a second vehicle before coming to rest.
Snisky was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious, but believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sprain Brook Parkway was reopened at approximately 5:25 p.m. after the scene was fully processed.
This investigation remains ongoing.
