State Police have released the names of the individuals involved in a crash that occurred on Thursday, July 29, 2021, which resulted in one fatality.

The driver of a Saturn Ion, Sophia M. Cassetta-Unrath, 20, of Rochester, NY, was traveling eastbound on I-90 and exited at Amsterdam.  While on the off- ramp, Cassetta-Unrath failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway due to traveling too fast for the wet road conditions.  The Saturn crossed into oncoming traffic, struck a Honda Odyssey head on, and continued off the roadway where it overturned.  Cassetta-Unrath was the only occupant of her vehicle and was not injured.  Troopers issued her a vehicle and traffic ticket.

The driver of the Honda, Christopher M. Kenyon, 49, of Amsterdam, NY, was entering the Thruway at the Amsterdam entrance lane when the crash occurred.  He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Front seat passenger of the Honda, Thaddeus S. Peterson, 27, of Albany, NY, was transported to Albany Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.  Peterson succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Alyssa Dalton, 23, of Albany, NY, was seated in the back seat of the Honda, along with her 4-year-old son, Ezra Corye.  Dalton was transported to Albany Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.  The child, who was not in a car seat or seat-belted at the time of the crash, was transported to Albany Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

SP Fultonville Troopers were assisted on scene by Troop G CRU (Collision Reconstruction Unit), Troop G BCI, Thruway Traffic Safety and Maintenance.
