PRESS RELEASE

On Monday August 31, New York State Police received a complaint of man trying to use counterfeit $50 bills to purchase merchandise at the Kohl’s in Big Flats. The manager of Kohl’s told police that the man was also in the store illegally as he had been issued a no trespass order previously.  A description of the man was given, and the man was located at the Dandy market in Big Flats. Troopers observed, Brandon McArthur, age 35 of Elmira, go into the Dandy market and attempt to purchase items with the counterfeit $50 bills. McArthur was found to be in possession of $500 worth of counterfeit bills and methamphetamine. McArthur was arrested for Criminal possession of a controlled substance, Burglary in the 3rd and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned in the Town of Big Flats court and is to return at a later date.
