On December 15, 2019, at approximately 10:14 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on McCabe Road in Malone. The suspect involved was reported to have left the residence in a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck. Troopers encountered the vehicle traveling south on State Route 30 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and turned onto Cosgrove Road in the town of Malone. The pursuit was terminated by State Police for safety reasons on Hick’s Road. Shortly after terminating the pursuit, Malone Village Police located the vehicle in the driveway of 590 Porter Road. The operator, Joseph J. Stagnitta, 47, of Malone, was taken into custody.
An investigation of the domestic dispute revealed that Stagnitta had assaulted the female victim causing her significant pain and bruising. He also caused damages to a bath tub inside the residence. The victim was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone where she was treated for bruising to the back of her neck and lower back.
Stagnitta was charged with Assault 3rd degree, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, all misdemeanors. He was arraigned before the Town of Malone Court and released on his own recognizance.
