Original release:

On Friday, April 1, 2022, at about a 8:15 a.m., New York State Troopers and Ontario County Sheriff Deputies initiated a pursuit of a small U-Haul box truck on the New York State Thruway.  The box truck was reportedly occupied by three individuals and had been involved in recent larcenies, one of which had just occurred in Seneca County.  The pursuit exited the Thruway at Exit 45 and continued onto Interstate 490.  After entering Monroe County, the box truck struck a New York State Trooper in a U-turn area, who was outside his vehicle.  After striking the Trooper, the box truck continued to flee into Monroe County.  The Trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital after receiving first aid by a fellow State Police member at the scene.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast and the box truck was subsequently located on East Ridge Road by Irondequoit Police, where they detained two occupants.  The driver, identified as 46-year-old THERESA A. GILLETTE, was taken into custody a short time later by SP Rochester Troopers.  GILLETTE was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, a class B felony.
