Update (8/12/20): New York State Police have charged Shane M. Santiago, age 26 of Otego, NY for two counts of the class C felony of Manslaughter in the second degree.

Santiago was arrested on August 11, 2020 at his residence and transported to SP Oneonta for processing.  He was arraigned virtually and remanded on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. 

An investigation revealed that Santiago was driving a 2011 Ford Escape when the vehicle went off the roadway on County Highway 13 in Pittsfield and recklessly caused the death of two women.  The two women were identified as Cheyenn J. Aubry, age 21 and Tehya E. Gonzalez.  Santiago suffered minor injuries. 

The investigation into the crash continues. 

 

Update (7/16/20): Two women who died after a one-vehicle crash in the town of Pittsfield have been identified as Tehya E. Gonzalez, age 21 of Bainbridge, NY and Cheyenn J. Aubry, age 21 of Treadwell, NY.  The driver, a 26-year-old male is facing criminal charges; his name will be released after he is formally charged.    

 

Original Release (7/15/20): On July 15, 2020 at approximately 12:17 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta responded to a 911 report of a vehicle that went off the roadway near the 1100 block of County Route 13 in the town of Pittsfield. 

An investigation revealed that two passengers in the vehicle did not survive the crash.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to Bassett Hospital for an evaluation. 

The investigation is on-going.  More information will be released later.
