East Shirley man arrested for felony DWI in Belmont following incident

On April 10, 2021, SP Amity Troopers arrested Nicholas J. Lauro II, 40, of East Shirley, NY for Driving While Intoxicated – Previous Conviction Within Past 10 Years, Use of a Vehicle Without an Interlock Device, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree.

Troopers on the lookout for a vehicle which had been reported stolen from Jones Memorial Hospital in the village of Wellsville observed the vehicle on State Route 19 in the town of Amity and conducted a traffic stop on Greenwich Street in the village of Belmont. Troopers determined Lauro had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene.

Lauro was arrested and released with appearance tickets for Belmont Village Court, where he is due to appear in May. He was turned over to Wellsville Police Department to face additional charges.
