PRESS RELEASE

On June 24th, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Shane Perry, 31, of Erie, PA, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument.

The Troopers responded to Route 60 in Gerry for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. Perry advised the Troopers that he had driven from Erie to begin a road trip when he ran out of gas. Perry displayed multiple signs of being under the influence of opiates and was placed under arrest after failing several SFSTs. Inside Perry’s vehicle the Troopers located a loaded hypodermic needle and three used hypodermic needles containing heroin residue. Perry was transported to SP Jamestown where he refused to provide a blood sample and refused to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Perry was then processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
