On June 14, 2020, State Police in Cobleskill arrested 30-year-old Meretta G. Johnston of Esperance, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

At approximately 6:38 p.m. on Sunday, state police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Junction Road in the Town of Esperance. When the Trooper arrived, they observed a vehicle in a ditch off the side of the roadway.

While interviewing the driver, Meretta Johnston, the Trooper could smell the odor of alcohol. Johnston was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and showed signs of impairment. She was taken into custody and transported to SP Cobleskill where were she provided a breath sample of .18% B.A.C.

Johnston was processed and issued an appearance ticket for Esperance Town Court on August 5, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
