Fatal Crash in Lagrange

Lagrange, New York – On September 15, 2023, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on State Route 55 in the town Lagrange.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to State Route 55 west of State Route 82 for a head-on collision where the Lagrange Fire Department was already on scene providing medical treatment.

Investigation determined a seventeen-year-old operating a 2015 Honda CRV eastbound fell asleep and entered the westbound lane striking a 2021 Kia Sorrento operated by Gabriel T. Bovenzi, age 54, of Shirely, NY.  Mr. Bovenzi was transported by the Lagrange Fire Department to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

This investigation remains ongoing.
