Fatal crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway

Greenburgh, New York – On March 13, 2022, the New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., 911 received a call reporting a car into the Grassy Sprain Reservoir.  Yonkers Police Department, Westchester County Police Department, and State Troopers all responded to the scene.

Initial investigation determined, Andrew D. Akroush, age 21, of Yonkers, NY, was operating a 2017 Lexus RX 350 southbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway and crashed through the center guard rail for unknown reasons.  The vehicle overturned and landed in the reservoir.  Andrew Akroush was brought to shore and pronounced deceased by Empress paramedics.

This investigation remains ongoing.
